OUR FOCUS
Sedulus provides capital and management for active owner-operators seeking a financial and management succession solution. In its simplest form, we provide the money, the team, and the legal and financial expertise to take over from an active owner looking to transition out of their business. We buy businesses, and we know how to operate them.
Although we buy businesses, we are not purely “investors”. We are squarely focused on each owner’s unique circumstances and goals. While we are comfortable assuming full ownership, we are also able to craft a transition plan for owner-operators looking to reduce their active involvement in the business while retaining a portion of equity as well as situations where some ownership transition to the employee-base is desired.
We're certainly not “flippers”. Most of the businesses we have been investors in, we have gradually built over 10+ years. We’re in it for the long term.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Situations:
- Active business owners requiring capital and management succession
- Management teams requiring an active management buyout partner
BUSINESS SIZE:
- Our primary focus is on businesses with revenue in the range of $5 to $40 million and net income of $0.5 to $3 million
LOCATION:
- We are based in British Columbia and we believe in investing locally. Although our primary focus is centered around the GVRD, we are interested in businesses anywhere in BC and certainly everything from Hope to Squamish and everything in between
BUSINESS TYPE:
- Manufacturing and assembly
- Value-added distribution
- Commercial or industrial sales and services
- Business to business services
CHARACTERISTICS:
- Established good businesses that could benefit from sales, marketing, systems and technology investments
- Business that are “important” to their customers, to their suppliers and ideally important to both

We're not fixated on one particular approach. Every business that we have ever been involved with is different, and our approach recognizes the fundamental as well as the more nuanced differences in situations. Business transition is complex, but we strive to keep our approach simple.
